The Professional Women's Network (PWN) was established as a program of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce to foster the growth and advancement of women in the workplace. All Chamber members are invited to participate in PWN's programs and events. Success Luncheon
PWN’s Annual Success Luncheon features a prominent, successful female public or private sector leader as keynote speaker. At the Success Luncheon, the Inspiration Award recipient will be recognized.
The 2008 Professional Women's Network Success Luncheon was held on Wednesday, October 1 at the Durham Civic Center. Stephanie R. Counts, CEO and Co-Founder of the Women's InterCultural Exchange served as the keynote speaker. Congratulations to Yvonne Pena, Director, Human Relations Department, City of Durham, for receiving the Inspiration Award.
Educational Seminars
PWN holds monthly educational seminars of interest to women. The PWN Advisory Committee created a balanced scorecard for these educational seminars designed to address four key issues - personal growth, professional growth, finances, and physical & mental health. Networking Receptions
PWN hosts two networking events each year. Sample fabulous food from area establishments while networking with the The Spring Fling will be held April 10, 2008 and the Mingle & Jingle December 2, 2008.
Mentoring Roundtable : Ask the Experts
These forums offer participants the opportunity to ask questions of experts in professional fields in a group setting. They are offered in conjunction with the Women’s Business Center of NC. In 2008 quarterly forums will be held on the following topics: marketing, human resources, business etiquette and sales.
Advisory Committee
PWN is led by a voluntary Advisory Committee comprised of Chamber members. The role of the Advisory Committee is to direct PWN's mission and plan upcoming events and activities. They hold monthly meetings at the Chamber.
