About Kevin Sowers:

Kevin  W.  Sowers,  MSN,  RN,  FAAN,  Chief  Executive  Officer, Duke University  Hospital.  Mr. Sowers joined Duke Hospital in 1985 and has been in  leadership  roles  with  Duke University Health System over the last 20 years.  He  most  recently  served  as the Chief Operating Officer for Duke University  Hospital for the last 6 years.

Mr. Sowers received his BSN from Capital  University  in  Columbus,  Ohio  and  his MSN from Duke University School  of  Nursing.  Mr.  Sowers  is accountable for the operations of the 1,000 bed academic teaching hospital with over 6,000 employees.  Mr. Sowers is  responsible  for integrating and implementing the strategic plan of the organization  in  collaboration  with  the  physician  group. Mr. Sowers is internationally  known  for  his  lectures  and  writings  on the issues of leadership, organizational change, mentorship and cancer care.  He has also served  in  a  variety  leadership  roles  at the national level within the Oncology  Nursing  Society most recently as President of ONS Foundation and is  a member of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure NC Triangle Affiliate Board of Directors.

About Chamber U:

Chamber U is a new, innovative initiative of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce designed to address critical topics and to help prepare Chamber members to meet the ever-changing demands of the workplace.  These once-a-week educational opportunities provide members with valuable tools and information they can take back to their businesses and utilize to help them achieve the success they desire. The program provides individualized growth and development opportunities for entry level to executive leadership covering the entire gamut from "nuts & bolts" to "visionary thinking."

When is Chamber U? Every Wednesday at the Chamber from 8:30-8:30 a.m.

Who can attend? Anyone can attend, and most subjects are good for any Durham or Triangle resident, businessperson or community member!   The Meet the Professors series is free and open to just Durham Chamber members.
