Major Roadways
Getting around the city could not be easier in Durham. With Interstates 40 and 85 easily accessed from all parts of Durham, commutes to and from work are convenient. NC-147, also known as the Durham Freeway, takes commuters through the heart of Research Triangle Park and conveniently connects I-85 and I-40.
Air Travel
Raleigh-Durham International has nearly 450 daily arrivals and departures, serving 37 destinations nonstop. With nine major and 16 regional airlines, RDU can get you where you want to go.
Bus and Rail Service
Getting around on the ground is not a problem here. Durham offers Greyhound and Amtrak services to get you to your destination outside of the Triangle region.
Public Transit Systems
Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) provides safe, reliable, convenient transportation within the City of Durham. More than 50 buses make more than 13,000 daily trips.
Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) has been serving Triangle residents since 1989. Services include regional bus and shuttle service, transportation choices for persons with disabilities, and service for vanpools and carpools.
Walkways and Bike paths
Durham’s miles of trails and walkways make it easy for those looking for other ways to get around town. The 11-mile American Tobacco Trail stretches from the heart of downtown to Highway 54!
